Plead the Fifth inside |
"breaking her maiden at start six"
Star Witness mare, Plead the Fifth has been a handful since she was a yearling.
Sacked by two trainers because of her lack of manners, Fenella and Geoff Martin were brought in as a last resort and have a reputation with problem horses.
Earlier in the campaign, Plead the Fifth refused to go out onto the track to exercise and her previous trainer reported that he just couldnt work with her any more.
The patience of Fenella and Geoff saw her run into the minor money second up at York. Then poorly ridden and unplaced at her next start at Northam, she progressed to a staying race at Bunbury where she was headed in the straight, then fought back an won over 2038m.
Plead the Fifth was always going to need the ground and at her first start at more than a mile, she saluted.
As she matures and the distances get longer, she will no doubt improve. She has come a long way this campaign.
