"for new trainer Grant Williams"
Falcon Crest won his second in a row for new trainer Grant Williams, accounting for the 66+ (1650m) field on Saturday with enough in hand.
The race was not run to suit when rider of noted leader, Baraki Beats, was in two minds whether to lead or not.
This meant a stop/start tempo and when they sprinted at the bend, Falcon Crest was left a little flat footed.
William Pikes experience came to the fore and he kept at the son of Musket, wearing them down on the line and holding off the fast finishing Blackwood, a listed winner herself.
Falcon Crest returned for new trainer Williams in the midweeks two and a half weeks earlier, with an impressive win over 1400m.
His dam, La Lollobrigida, has now had five to the track for five winners. Two of those winners, including Falcon Crest, have been Saturday winners.
Ascot Bloodstock has the 2yo brother of Falcon Crest, by Oratorio, in work and still with 30% remaining for sale.
