Werd's little 2yo half brother, Culprit, is back in work after a short preparation over summer.
He has been gelded and feels a different proposition this campaign.
Shaun McGruddy has taken over the reins and rode today in a short sharp hitout over 400m where Culprit was narrowly beaten in 23.8 seconds.
McGruddy reported he switched off a little after getting to the front and only turned it on again when challenged by the very impressive trial winner, The Rising.
Trevor Andrews has a big opinion of his two year old, ridden by Paul Harvey in the trial.
Culprit will now go to a 1000m trial in two weeks at Belmont before looking to break his maiden status in a 1000m midweek event.
Meantime, the half brother of Werd and Culprit out of Statue of Liberty, is once again in pre-training at the Ascot stables of Murray Dillon. He has now been in work approximately two weeks and there are still shares available.
