"Winning his maiden at Kembla"
Unara (Elusive Quality - Messenger Miss) has proved the family's quality by easily winning his maiden at Kembla Grange yesterday.
Unara is the half brother of Werd and a full brother to the weanling colt recently bred by Ascot Bloodstock and Gangemi Racing.
Trained by Kembla trainer Gwenda Markwell, Unara had a luckless campaign over the summer, narrowly going down at his first two runs. He then failed at Randwick before being off the scene for five months.
Unara began the 11/4 favourite and accounted for his opposition easily.
Ascot Bloodstock's full brother will be a yearling in August and will be offered for sale later in the year.
Messenger Miss, who is bred in the purple, is three quarter sister to oustanding Northern hemisphere sire Green Desert. She is currently in foal to Statue of Liberty and was last week floated to Darley to be served by High Chapparal for the coming season.
With the recent heroics of Werd, and now the debut win of Unara, both Ascot and Gangemi Racing are excited about the possibility of racing three close relations over the coming years.
