"New purchase on the same cross as Werd"
Ascot Bloodstock have repaid their faith in Hussonet by purchasing yet another yearling by the outstanding sire.
After the success of Werd (Hussonet - Messenger Miss) who has progressed to open company with four wins this campaign and with good reports on Shadow Hussler, a two year old by Hussonet from Shalwar Kameez, Ascot purchased this impeccably bred yearling on the weekend at Gold Coast.
The yearling by Hussonet from Debra's Joy, is closely related to champion Thorn Park, who won at Group 1, 2 and 3 in a career amassing seven wins and almost $1.4 million in prizemoney. Debra's Joy is a half sister to Thorn Park and a three quarter sister to World Peace, who won the Group 3 Blue Diamand Prelude in 2004 follwed by a placing in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at her next start.
Also through the third dam, Christmas Spirit, this colt is related to Stryker (2 wins for $350k in stakes), impressive winner of the Group 3 BTC Classic last month, aswell as Christmas Tree (6 wins for $220k including a Group 2), Bentley Biscuit (12 wins for $1.446 million including three Group 1's) and Light Up The World (8 wins for $330k including a Group 2 and two Group 3's).
Local flavour through the colt includes Kalgoorlie and Boulder Cup winner Forehand (9 wins for $201k in stakes) along with Elliotto (9 wins for almost $430k in stakes).
Working on the same cross as Werd (Hussonet from a Danehill mare), the purchase really was a "no brainer" for Ascot Bloodstock.
The colt will be floated back to Heytesbury after spending a week at Scone and broken in towards the end of August. He will be offered for syndication some time in the second half of this year.
