"Third in the fastest trial of the day"
Vain Crusher hit the track for his second campaign under the astute care of Ben Pearce today at Lark Hill trials.
'Calibre's' work had slowly improved in the previous six weeks such that Ben was confident he would go well, even over the sprint journey.
After jumping first in the trial, Peter Knuckey opted for a sit in third place with a frenetic pace up front. Vain Crusher kept coming in the straight, going down by 1.75 lengths and doing his best work on the line.
The time of 56.89 was a half second quicker than any other trial on the day, and up to a second quicker than many of the trials.
Knuckey gave him a few slaps with the whip to keep his mind on the job and he raced truly.
Ben Pearce was happy enough to send him to the races in a few weeks over the 1300m or 1400m journey first up.
Vain Crusher's has shown a vast amount of improvement in his body and his mind this campaign and under the in form guidance of Ben Pearce, is set to mature into a more than handy four year old.
A share in Vain Crusher still remains at $2,750 for 10%.
Watch his trial below. As there is no commentary, he is in the red silks with white cap.
