"Ascot and Pinjarra runners"
Ascot Bloodstock will field no less than four runners in the next week for three different trainers.
The weekend starts off with a bang when Tottenham Hots confronts a handy field of three year olds in the Armadale Tavern Handicap over 1400m at Ascot on Saturday. He had excuses at his last run when rearing high in the gates and coming down heavily on his jaw. The knock rattled him and he never travelled, being beaten 3.5 lengths by the impressive Cheri Cheval, whom he will take on again on Saturday.
Simon Miller is supremely confident the horse will atone, the only question mark being the step out to 1400m.
Meantime, Adam Durrant will debut for Ascot Bloodstock on Sunday at Pinjarra with Dark Money. Adam has been happy with his work to date after ironing out some early issues. Dark Money stepped out to a mile last campaign but has shown a fair bit more toe this campaign and Durrant is confident he can sprint well fresh.
Bonsoleil also steps out at Pinjarra on Sunday over 1400m in race seven. After a soft trial and a luckless first up run this time in, Bonsoleil did all of the work outside the leader when running second to the impressive Lie In Wait in the midweeks at Ascot. Bonsoleil has come on a fair bit from his second up run and trainer Shane Edwards is expecting a top three finish. Bonsoleil was purchased from Peter Caporn late last year and was formerly trained by Frank Maynard. Maynard has been very forthcoming with tips on dealing with some of Bonsoleil's idiosynchracies, assistance we have been very appreciative of.
Finally, Successful Spin will get his chance on the track when he debuts at Bunbury next Wednesday over 1400m. Simon Miller has taken over the preparation of the three year old Mossman gelding who was bred by Gerry Harvey.
The next week showcases almost our entire arsenal of trainers with the exception of Gangemi Racing, who will trial Werd at Belmont Park on Monday after his first up failure. It was back to the drawing board with the five year old Hussonet gelding after his wayward manners in the 1100m Cash In The Bank Handicap at Ascot on February 6th, where he finished second last.
