The cracking looking Rock Of Gibraltar colt from the More Than Ready mare Staten Island is now selling.
He has travelled over extremely well from the Gold Coast and is now with master horse breaker John Bowtell. Once he has been broken in he will have a good rest out at the magnificent Egerton Stud before Shane Edwards takes over his education.
This colt is a lovely precocious two year old type that could well be in the Magic Millions race next year. He has great conformation a terrific constitution and a great will to learn. He has a great walk, a terrific shoulder, deep girth and good bone structure.
He has all the attributes needed to be a success on the race track and we are very proud to be able to offer such a well bred youngster for syndication.
His trainer Shane Edwards has won a Karrakatta Plate with No Questions and know what it takes to have horses ready for WA's biggest two year old race.
Rock Of Gibraltar himself needs no introduction. He was a super star on the race track and is producing winner after winner from the breeding barn. He won seven consecutive Group 1 races and won in distances ranging from 1000m to 1600m. He was the World Champion Racehorse of 2002 and now stands at leading international stud Coolmore for a service fee of $55,000. His sons are now standing at Stud including Murtajill. He is the sire of Rock Kingdom, Proart and Almohad, which flew his flag over the last part of 2009.
This colts dam Staten Island is by the Champion two year old sire of the past two years in More Than Ready. More Than Ready is the sire of Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Phelan Ready as well as the explosive More Joyous. Staten Island is a half sister to two stakes winners in Kalamata and the ever consistent Kirvinsky. This Rock Of Gibraltar colt is the second foal of Staten Island, the first foal Offshore Sham (by Shamardal) was super impressive in winning her only trial back in November, she looks to have plenty of ability.
