"Ripping Rock Of Gibraltar colt from a More Than Ready mare"
Rock Of Gibraltar x Staten Island (More Than Ready)

This precocious looking Rock of Gibraltar colt was purchased from the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions sale. He will be trained by Shane Edwards and both Shane and Ascot Bloodstock will retain a share in the colt.

His sire Rock Of Gibraltar was a race track superstar. He won seven Group 1 races in a row and was the dominant race horse of his age group. He has since translated that race track performance into the breeding barn. To early 2010 he is the sire of more than 300 individual winners in currently the sire of over 300 individual winners including 48 stakes winners and 6 individual Group 1 winners. His Australian Group 1 winners include Rock Kingdom the tough winner of the 2009 AJC Epsom Handicap over 1600m. Rock Of Gibraltar's service fee when this colt was conceived was $82,500 making him exceptional value.

This colts dam Staten Island is by top juvenile sire More Than Ready, sire of the last two Golden Slippers winners. She is a half sister to two stakes winners in Kalamata and Kirvinsky. Kalamata is also a Group 1 placegetter behind multiple Group 1 winners Starcraft and Miss Potential, in her only Group 1 start after drawing gate 14 of 14. Staten Island is also a half sister to the very smart Kirvinsky who has only been unplaced in one out of her 7 life time starts and is a Listed winner over 1200m at Flemington.

The first foal from Staten Island is a filly by the name of Offshore Sham who was explosive in winning at her only trial apperance in November 2009. She has now started two times for a tough 5th in LIsted company and an easy winner in a Saturday Sydney event.

From a conformation point of view what took our eye with this horse at the sales was he has a good length of rein, a strong hindquarter, a great walker and good bone to complement his overall size. His conformation points that he should be a two year old runner that can train on at three years of age.

The family can run and this horse has the looks, pedigree and conformation to follow in their illustrious foot steps.
